A cyber security challenge for young people across the United Kingdom

We are pleased to announce our title sponsor for this years challenge as Vodafone UK. Our collaboration with the telecoms giant will enable more young people across the UK to experience the Matrix Challenge, reinforcing the learning behind the challenge in key areas such as the computer misuse act and how to stay safe on line.
If you are selected as one of the 400 best entries into the Matrix Challenge 2020 you will be invited to take part in the online final running over the weekend of the 16th and 17th January 2021.

The Matrix Challenge saw over 65,000 young minds from across the United Kingdom pit their digital skills against a series of challenges.
We are now able announce the top 3 young minds in both age categories, 11-14 and 15-17 year old categories

The MAtrix Challenge 2020 is going national
Following on from the success of 2018 and 2019, the Matrix Challenge 2020 will be a national competition open to all 11 to 17 year olds across the United Kingdom.
The Matrix Challenge is an innovative cyber competition, designed and delivered by the Yorkshire and Humber Regional Cyber Crime Unit in partnership with our colleagues from the 11 regional organised crime units across England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.
MATRIX CHALLENGE IN A NUTSHELL
The Matrix Challenge qualification game will be live in January 2020 and will run for 4 weeks. The top entries in each region will be invited to a regional semi final. The top 3 competitors in each age category will then be selected for a grand final in January 2021 with the chance to be crown Matrix Challenge UK Champion will be up for grabs.
The Matrix Challenge will be available to all 11-17 year olds within the UK on the 20th January 2020. The game takes around 30 minutes to complete and covers 5 key topics, CMA 1990, staying safe online, steganography, fault finding in lines of code and cracking a cipher. The challenge will also include a timed multiple choice quiz.

How is the programme structured?
Take part in our online game between 20th January to 14th February 2020. The top scorers around the country progress to step 2.
Each of the 12 ROCU's around the UK will hold an event to get their 2 top 3's (11-14 and 15-17) who will be invited to step 3.
The best players from around the UK will take part in the online grand final
